Oh wow! My first LinkedIn post! 😮 And what a great opportunity to announce that I'm working with my lovely teammates at Flawberry Studio on a cozy, nostalgic puzzle game called Projected Dreams! Well, to be fair, we've been working on this gem for almost two years now... 🤯 BUT(!) today we launched our Steam page, which is a really big step for all of us and (hopefully) our future studio. 🎉 It's been an absolute pleasure to work on this so far and I can't wait to see where this project takes us 🌟 Check out our Steam page if you're interested in cozy games, or if you're an indie game nerd in general 😉 https://lnkd.in/eXBGUpKTThaaaaaaank you 💁♀️ ❤️

Hope LinkedIn world had a great weekend! Back on the job search grind and wanted to highlight another great game that everyone who loves puzzle games should know about: Talos Principle 2 by Devolver Digital. In Talos Principle you solve some of the most interesting puzzles ever conveived to unlock puzzle pieces that unlock more puzzles, that unlock... you get it. Add in the best narrative design I've ever encountered in a game that makes the player challenge and question their own morals, and you're pretty close to this being a perfect game. After playing the first Talos years ago I was over the moon to hear that they were making a second , and boy is it delivering. The way they incorporate the old puzzles while adding more to make the game fresh and fun is a thing of beauty. If you're a puzzle game lover, Talos is the GOAT. A must play. You think there's a better puzzle game? Tell me about it in the comments so I can play it next!Let's make it a great week!

This is Menace N' Mayhem! Ever had a destructive cat and wished you could have the same privilege to never have to clean up? Then this is the game for you!Menace N' Mayhem is a 2 player, local-multiplayer party game where the goal is absolute chaos. Fill up the chaos bar by causing some mayhem and compete against your friend whilst also working together! Complete objectives to ensure your owner is as disappointed in you as possible and revel in their frustration. It's a long video so feel free to skip ahead through parts to get an idea of the gameplay. My contributions in this project was all of the programming and UI design (Not the art) as the only programmer on the project. I also implemented many of my own ideas such as the selection highlights on objects, the different object weight categories, the chaos bar/meter design and more. This game was created as the end of year project for the dual diploma in game programming I completed at the end of last year, I hope you enjoy. My Portfolio: https://lnkd.in/g7jQDhxiItch io/Download: https://lnkd.in/ghbqyx_H(I apologise for the bad audio, that is from the recording software, not the game)#gamedev #gamedevelopment #gamedeveloper #videogames #videogame #partygame #silly #coop

Extremely excited to be working on more content at Small Loan Studio! We value the feedback our QA testers, playtesters and community have provided and will take that into account these upcoming weeks. Stay tuned for any more announcements from our socials! It makes me happy that folks like Najmah had a positive experience from this game jam. My goal in asking people, "Hey, who wants to be in a game jam?" was to teach. In the span of a month, almost 30+ developers learned the ins and outs of a game development pipeline at a scale accomodated to a one-month project. It is my hope that recruiters in my network can look at the hard work from everyone at Small Loan Studio, and invite them to be part of projects that take more than a month. A common conversation I have had with other developers is that the talent pool found in entry-level applicants is insane--it is full of multihyphenates who can pick up an engine and implement their own stories immediately. We had many writers who were also producers, artists who were sound designers--all of whom graduated from an intensive program at The Narrative Department.Check out the portfolios in the credits, and while we work on the upcoming content, check out Santa's Secret by Small Loan Studio here: https://lnkd.in/ezaNx6sT

Indies, an important note. BIGGER isnt always BETTER. dont get overwhelmed thinking "oh this game needs to be open world, massive, and have top notch graphics" that isnt what every player wants. some people (i myself) would like to play a game that may take like 8hrs to complete. the cost is usually cheaper, but the story is a lot more original usually, and the content is more meaningful. I just got done playing MageSeeker, from RiotForge. That game was fun till the last scene. And i felt like i was making progress and just wanted to hear more of the awesome lore Runterra had to offer. Take it as a game like Skyrim... it was fun dont get me wrong, made by a AAA company... but it was so grindy, with meaningless content grind. I really remember just the guild stories, but they were just the same back and forth... where as shorter games, you constantly get to learn and enjoy new things. bigger open world games with realism are fine, and a lot of people like it. but youll be suprised how much a smaller game, at a smaller price, will do. and for the devs, they have a lot more time putting meaningful content and they arent stressed out by size vs deadline

Hi everyone, I would like to share a project I created in the first module of the Get Coding program!"Kaboom Beach" is a puzzle game that plays very similar to bothBattleshipandMinesweeper,so if you are familiar with either then I think you'll pick it up quick. The motivation for doing this project comes from wanting to create something that would really challenge me to dig into the JavaScript logic and solve some tricky problems. I've also loved video games since I was young, and developing a light puzzle game that could appeal to all ages seemed like a fun way to dive into coding.I originally envisioned this project as aBattleshipclone, but I thought it would be fun to introduce a twist by throwing some explosives into the playing grid.Multiple playthroughs are encouraged, as the layouts are randomized every time, so no two gameplay runs are the same. Win or lose, you will reach the end of the game in under a minute.Key Features:- Two game modes - the default setting is a relaxed experience where the user seeks hidden "treasures" in a grid (thinkBattleshipwith no opponent). Adding mines to the playing area introduces an element of peril, where the user can lose at any moment.- Three difficulty settings- Extensive use of sound effects -Please play with sound ON for the best experience, but check your volume firstThe game was primarily developed for mobile use, and I think it looks best in that format, but it is desktop-friendly.Any feedback is encouraged and much appreciated! If you catch any bugs or have a suggestion, do not hesitate to let me know. (You can view the treasure and mine locations by opening up the console in your browser. Comes in handy when testing for bugs!) Until six months ago I had never written a line of code in my life, so having the support of this excellent program is a huge help.Play it here: https://lnkd.in/eztgrkGtGitHub repository: https://lnkd.in/eazdyh9V#techprojects #javascript #codingjourney #css #gamedev

Hey, #Doom fans, Game Dev people and other pop culture aficionados make yourself a gift this holiday season and pick up: "Doom Guy Life In First Person".I just finished reading it (Audiobook) and sincerely John Romero thank you for writing this book. Here are my takeaways:- If you are a Level Designer, a Designer, a Programmer, a Producer, an Artist, a Community Mgr, or a Publisher, go pick it up. - Chapter 12 of the book (I believe) - Covers Romero's list of Designs Laws. Brilliant.- Later on, we also get a proper list of Multiplayer Design Laws (linked to #Quake obviously 😂 ) - Even John who is a freaking Genius at this confirms, that Game Development is hard and our history is full of hits and misses. Yet, it is one of the best crowds composed of people who live this career out of sheer passion. (yup, 100% agreed).- A small well-balanced team when it is in total symbiosis with their vision can deliver outstanding work. - Do not be afraid of constructive conflicts within teams, they can save you a lot of time, partnerships and money.John's story is heartwarming, from a tough youth to his gift for game-making when our industry was in its infancy, his honesty makes this book an absolute gem. His work (along with the ID Software team) is the foundation for what we are making today (especially in the FPS genre).I even got goosebumps when I reached the chapter where he met this other dude named #JohnCarmarck...Then comes the #IDSoftware days, then #IonStorm and the reality that game dev can be difficult, even for the best of us.In short, this book is full of vulnerability, humanity, love and passion for video games and incredibly humbling to read this incredible story. Do yourself a favour and get this book.Thank you for reading,A.

Eggy's Games 21/33 - Battle Fish 🐟 I made this game when I visited my grandpa in Darwin, Australia. I was inspired by all the amazing sea life there. I thought what would be a fun game idea with fish? oh I know....I'll give them weapons. Cute animas + weapons = success. Write that down everyone. It was a fun experiment, the fish stay alive and auto shoot their weapons. I added an interest mechanic of being able to click and hold to make bubbles below them that feeds them for health, or spikes above to hurt enemies. You can also briefly drop a sonar in the water to make the fish go the other way.The game turned out good and a lot of people have requested a Unity remake for Mobile and I have to agree it would definitely fit well.Overall I loved this game and it has a lot of good memories. Also I love the UI art for the shop, it still holds up well 15 years later.😎 For the next 33 posts. We will be posting 33 games made by Eggy's Games. Each day I will post a game trailer of a game made by us starting from the oldest, heading towards the newest 😎#EggysGameOfTheDay#EggysGames#OurGameOfTheDay#Flash#Oldschool#eggs#throwback#Fun#cute#Actionscript2#coding#programming#gameideas#battlefish #fishwithweapons #fishattack #fish #aquariums

Quick 2023 wrap-up in six really cool projects I worked on:- The Invincible by Starward Industries and 11 bit studios S.A. - Astrogator, help me, I'm stuck (on an alien planet).- Layers of Fear by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios Inc. - is it a remake? Is it a sequel? Is it an anthology? Yes. And it will scare you!- Everspace 2 by ROCKFISH Games GmbH - spaceship goes vroom, blasters go pew pew.- LEGO Bricktales by ClockStone Software and Thunderful Games - regular free content updates over a year since initial release, just how?!- Timberborn by Mechanistry - BOBER, MORDO! CHODŹ DO MNIE!- Achilles: Legends Untold by Dark Point Games - didn't translate it actually, but the main antagonist sounds a lot like me.Stay tuned for 2024, I'm telling you right now, it's gonna be insane.
