Smith was born September 22, 1925 in Shreveport, LA to Ernest and Mary Chamness Smith and died March 30, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. He was self-employed and had proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was with Headquarters Detachment United States Forces European Theater. He was a member of Airline Baptist Church, the senior choir at the church, a deacon, a member of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Posse, a member of the local chapter of Barbershop Quartet singing, past member of the Bossier Parish Tax Watch, past member and chairman of the Bossier City Fire and Municipal Civil Service Board, and the NRA.

Mr. Smith was the former owner of Bossier Auto Supply, Accent Homes and Portable Buildings, co-owner of Smith Oil and Tire and owner of Smith Distributing Co. He was a football player and graduate of Greenwood High School. He went on to graduate from Centenary College, where he was a member of Centenary Alumni and a bass soloist for the Centenary College Choir. Mr.

Smith was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed singing in quartets, choirs and around the piano with family. Active in politics and community and civic affairs, he had a love for history, especially relating to this country and the freedom we enjoy today. After his retirement, he assisted many widows from church and his neighborhood by being their handyman. He and his wife enjoyed cooking for and taking folks out to eat. He was very generous and helpful, was loved by many and will be missed by all.

He loved his family and was an excellent provider. His parents; sister, Agnes Scott; brothers, Orel C. Smith, James B. Smith and infant grandson, Jason Michael Johnson preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Clothilde "Clo" Cobb Smith of Bossier City, LA; daughters, Cindy Flanagan and husband Jim of Hosston, LA, Cathy Smith and husband Desi Sprawls of Shreveport, LA; brother, E.

Wayne Smith and wife Gaines of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Kelly Michelle Johnson, Elisha Smith Sprawls, Hannah Clothilde Sprawls; Christa Cathryn Sprawls; step-grandson, Timothy Flanagan and step-great grandchildren, Tiffany Renee Flanagan and Allyson DeLynn Flanagan. Doris was born on November 15, 1926 in Swartz, LA and passed away on March 29, 2011 in Shreveport. She was an only child to the late James P. Johnston and Robbie Cooper Johnston. Growing up she enjoyed riding her horse, Patsy and hanging out with her best friend Virginia Adams Elmore. Doris graduated from Rodessa High School in 1944 and attended many of the "Oil Patch Kids" class reunions from 1984 to 2008.

She graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1947 with a BS degree in Business. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Charles William Roy, Jr. She is survived by sons, Mark Roy, Bryan Roy wife, Lori, Brandon Roy wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Barrett, Blake and Lauren Roy who loved their "Mam-Maw" dearly. Honoring Doris as pallbearers are Barrett Roy, Blake Roy, Pete Elmore, Bennie Hughes, J.T. Baker and Max Johnston.
