Six from Babson Earn College Sports Communicators Women's At-Large Recognition - Babson College (2024)

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Six Babson College female student-athletes from three different programs were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom when the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-District At-Large teams on Tuesday afternoon.

Alpine skiing senior Caroline Haaijer (Fairfield, Conn.), lacrosse senior Kayleigh Hacker (Natick, Mass.) and field hockey junior Berit Sharrow (Denver, Colo.) were all honored for the second year in a row. Graduate student Anna Costello (Milton, Mass.) and senior ZoëMichaud (Bedford, N.H.) of lacrosse and alpine skiing junior Caroline Johnson (Milton, Mass.) were all named to the team for the first time in their respective careers.

The at-large program recognizes the top student-athletes from the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, men's volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Haaijer concluded her career by earning her fourth All-America award thanks to a 12th-place finish in the slalom at the USCSA National Championships back in March. A three-time All-MacConnell Division selection, she placed third in the league standings in 2024 after recording one victory, three podium finishes and seven top-10 results. Haaijer also came in fifth in both the slalom and combined standings at regionals before helping the Beavers record their highest finish (3rd) at nationals this past winter.

Hacker started all 20 games on defense and finished with a career-high 27 caused turnovers to go along with a career-high 35 ground balls. She recorded a season-high four caused turnovers in the Beavers' 11-9 win over Stevens in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on May 12.

A three-time all-conference and two-time all-region honoree, Hacker scooped up 101 ground balls and forced 79 turnovers while starting all 66 games of her Babson career.

Sharrow, who was selected as an NFHCA first-team All-American for the second year in a row back in December, anchored a Babson defense that allowed just 17 goals in 24 games and ranked 11th in Division III with a 0.70 goals against average. She also contributed career highs of eight goals and seven assists for 23 points as the Green and White advanced to the Final Four for the second time in program history.

Costello, who earned IWLCA All-America second-team honors and all-region and all-conference first-team accolades, set a new single-season program record with 56 caused turnovers to go along with 52 ground balls while starting all 20 games for a Babson defense that ranked among the best in Division III. She forced at least one turnover in every contest on the way to earning NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year accolades as the Beavers advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010.

Johnson earned a spot on the All-MacConnell Division team for the third year in a row after placing 12th in the season standings this past winter. She finished among the top 15 in seven of eight regular season races and then came in 14th in the slalom and combined standings and 24th in the giant slalom to help Babson come in second at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf back in February.

Michaud started 18 of 20 games and finished with career highs of 37 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls for a Beavers' defense that ranked among the best in Division III in 2024. She recorded at least three forced turnovers six times, which includes a career-high five in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal win over Coast Guard and four to go along with a season-high four ground balls in the conference tournament final victory over MIT in May.

A three-year starter for the Green and White, Michaud totaled 70 caused turnovers and collected 53 ground balls in 60 career games over her four-year career.

Since 1952, CSC (formerly CoSIDA) has honored more than 20,000 outstanding student-athletes across the NCAA. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
