Maria’s third husband Sean Whitesell battled with Glioblastoma, a rare Brain Cancer Disease for 18 months. When her husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Maria found herself lost. Despite that, she had to put a smile on her face on Good Morning LA. Sean succumbed to the disease in December 2015. This incident led Maria to raise their son Gus alone and to also advocate for Glioblastoma and Brain Cancer Awareness.
