  2. #2 Best Test Optional Colleges in North CarolinaDavidson CollegeDavidson, NC·4 Year·Rating 3.99 out of 5 347 reviewsJunior: I’m a junior at Davidson, and I still have absolutely no regret about my decision years later. The campus is stunning and located in a beautiful, quaint town. It is not too far outside of Huntersville, Mooresville, and Cornelius, which all have a lot to do. The food options are great for a small school. We have create own pizza, sushi, hot dog stations, pho, smoothies, burritos, etc. Our campus cafe (Summit) is also incredible with breakfast options and iced coffees. The freshman dorm quality varies but upperclassmen dorms are top notch. D1 sports (esp basketball scene) is hard to come by at a small school. The career services are unmatched. When applying for internships, I feel I always have an advantage just because of all our seminars, workshops, and on-site cover letter and resume editing. Most of all, the PEOPLE and the professors and so flexible and always willing to help. I don’t find that Davidson is competitive. Most professors will prioritize your mental health. COME! :)... 6. #5 Best Test Optional Colleges in North CarolinaNorth Carolina State UniversityRaleigh, NC·4 Year·Rating 3.85 out of 5 3,460 reviewsFreshman: Looking back on my first year at North Carolina State University, I'd say I had a pretty good experience there overall. Since I'm majoring in Computer Science, I got a first hand look at their engineering program, which is really fleshed out. The freshman engineering experience at NCSU was filled with lots of events and experiences that taught me and my fellow inexperienced engineers a lot about the future and how to prepare for it. The professors were really enthusiastic about what they do, and that made attending lectures all the more better. The student life on campus was also pretty solid as well, especially during March Madness. The whole school would come together to cheer on both our men's and women's basketball team in the hopes that they would come home the victors of the NCAA. I'll never forget those nights where I would rush the belltower cheering with my fellow Wolfpack brothers and sisters fresh off another NCAA win. It was overall an exciting first year.... Throughout my time I am constantly being challenged in my art and can see improvement semester to semester. I like the performance opportunities UNCSA provides each year. We get many guest artists who choreograph new works for Fall, Winter, and Spring dance. Ballet students also perform as The Nutcracker every year and other classic pieces such as The Firebird or Sleeping Beauty are performed in either winter or spring dance. Furthermore, we are given opportunities to collaborate with other art areas and are encouraged to see productions outside of our major. One thing I would like to see at UNCSA is a better-lit campus at night. Boone and the campus are breathtakingly beautiful year round, the bus system is fantastic, and the local restaurants and bars are great. My professors were amazing, every one of them. They are kind and really care about your success, each getting to know you personally and many have continued supporting me after graduating. The education program is top-notch and provides you with amazing internship opportunities. My only complaint would be that during my freshman year, my dorm was lackluster. The rooms were small and poorly insulated, and the bathroom was at times unclean. The showers did not have full walls, doors or even hooks on the curtains. The east-side campus has been completely torn down and rebuilt since my time there, so the new dorms are probably nicer! This has made my first time applying to the college stress-free, and it assists in fighting that first step of advancing to college. Secondly UNCG is rich in history and culture, and there are many different stories and tales that will keep anyone who attends here interested. Whether it be scary ghost stories, historical landmarks, superstitions, or an old donut, UNCG's history contains many interesting bits of lore that is waiting to be explored. Moving on to an important section, the quality of education. UNCG's resources regarding education are very adequate, and the professors feel well-versed in their subjects. There are many food options and the campus is situated right in the middle of town, so nothing is ever more than 15 minutes away. The campus is the perfect size for someone who wants to see familiar faces often, but doesn't want to know everyone. The faculty and staff are the most amazing people I have ever met. The professors make great strides to make sure students succeed. The school is always providing activities for the students. There are movie showings, concerts, tables to stop by for free snacks and swag between classes. The atmosphere on campus is wonderful and there are some really amazing instructors that are present and willing to assist. I wish I had attended WSSU when I graduated high school in 2012. One thing that I would like to see change is having more parking. There has been times where I have spent 30 mins and more looking for a parking spot.
